Draft Hunter Regional Plan

There is still time to make a comment on the Draft Hunter Regional and Hunter City Plans, submissions close Sunday 28/2/16.

You may have to allocate an hour or so to having a read or doing the survey or drafting a letter and lodging online, there are lots of options, you will probably need a computer though.

The LT Creek Sustainable Neighbourhood Group (LTSNG) has identified the absence of any planning for the high conservation area to the west of Toronto…do you remember where the open-cut mine was planned…The proposed Awaba Conservation Area. This area has high conservation qualities such habitat for Spotted-Tailed Quoll, Squirrel Glider, Regent Honeyeater, Swift Parrot, Powerful Owl, Masked Owl, Sooty Owl, Grey-Headed Flying Foxes and Tetratheca juncea.  The area was identified as significant 1972 and then again in 2009 as the ‘next high priority’ for conservation by the NSW government. The Office of Environment and Heritage state they are committed to investigating additional outcomes for the Awaba area.

By commenting on the Draft Regional plans you can add your views to the process as well. The LT Creek Sustainable Neighbourhood group have an online petition to sign as well, voicing concerns about recognizing the Awaba Conservation Area

THE ABSENCE OF THE AWABA CONSERVATION AREA MEANS THAT THE AREA MAY BE PLANNED FOR OTHER DEVELOPEMENT.LOCAL RESIDENTS DESERVE TO BE INFORMED AS TO THE REASON IT HAS BEEN OMITTED NOT KEPT IN THE DARK.THIS GOVERNMENT IS ACTING AS A WOLF IN SHEEPS COTHING IN REGARD TO CONSERVATION.
