Expanding the Blog http://coalpointprogress.blogspot.com.au/

The Progress Association’s online presence is a blog, a place where experiences, observations and opinions about local events are collected and curated.

A recent addition to the blog is a calendar of events. You can find out about the local activities that are happening at the Hall such as yoga and life drawing and where the Landcare crew are doing their good deeds. It also has the dates for the weekend Guardian Group events.

As the blog can be updated at a moment’s notice any dates and details for events can be current.

If you haven’t visited the blog before or are keen to know what is going on within the immediate community or with the Threatened Species project, the blog will be a handy reference point.

On the blog this month you can find

  • The Summer 2014 Bird Survey
  • A list of local birds
  • Links to information about microbats
  • A list of local plants
  • A membership form for the Progress Association
  • Details of the Sunday Guardian Group events

The online version of the Chronicle at http://coalpointprogress.blogspot.com offers a few extras that aren’t possible in the paper version. There are links to other local organisation’s web presences, surveys to complete, pictures in colour, access to maps and all the Chronicle articles since 2009 all in the one spot and highly searchable.

Some recent additions to the local links include

Community Comments and Collaboration

The Progress Association has been dabbling around the edges of social media with the Chronicle blog for the past year or so.
The blog  http://coalpointprogress.blogspot.com has an untapped potential to provide a space for comments on articles that are posted. Until recently the comments have not been allowed but in the spirit of openness and community collaboration comments will now be encouraged in order to get feedback and inform the community debate on local  happenings and topics.
As with all online dealings there is an expectation that the conversation will be courteous, respectful and of the same tone as off line conversations. Looking forward to hearing your views.
