The Progress Association owns and covers all the costs for maintaining Progress Hall for community use. Lake Macquarie City Council have generously provided the Progress Association with a rate rebate for which we are truly grateful.

New tables at Progress Hall.

Last year the Toronto Diggers Club provided The Progress Association with funds to assist in purchasing new tables.
We have finally acquired 8 new lighweight, stay up all the time tables for the Hall.
In the process Bunnings provided some additional assistance which helped purchase another 2.

Songs of Henry Lawson & Banjo Paterson

It was a memorable evening that provided insights into the number of poems that had been put to song by our iconic poets. An enjoyable evening all round with a mountain of scrumptious treats provided by Bakers Delight for the supper.

Thank you Toronto Diggers

In May the CPPA requested financial assistance from the Toronto Diggers to assist in replacing the Association's heavy tables and a trolley to aid moving them. A generous donation of $500 towards the costs of the equipment was presented to CPPA 's Tony Dynon at a Board Meeting. Sincerest thanks to the Toronto Diggers for their support.

Premier's Flood Relief Appeal

It seems like a long time since the The Queensland Floods fundraiser but the memories are lingering and can be revived by viewing the slideshow. It was a very successful event raising $893.10. Sincerest thanks to all the participants who made the evening so memorable. There was laughter, merry making, music and much more.

Thank you to Baker's Delight for providing the intermission munchies, Ross Browne for his puppeteering, the beautiful Bay Boot Scooters for their lively stepping, Bill Carney and Warren Sinclair for their poetry, the Carey Bay Naval Band for their bravery, Sharon Ellam for hokey poking, Russ Redford for his amazing harmonica skills and all the locals for being there.

On behalf of Angie and her family, could you extend our deepest gratitude and thanks to all those associated with the Toronto Chamber and , in particular, the Coal Point Progress Association that either took part in the working bee and/or donated to the Appeal. 

Without the various "helpers" that grabbed a paint brush, cleaned paint from the floors, carried various building materials etc., we would not have achieved the amazing final result that is now Angie's Dream House. It is incredibly gratifying to know that we live in such a caring and humane area out here on Lake Macquarie!!

Geoff Teague has been a regular Chronicle deliverer and Progress person for many-a-year and is forgoing his monthly delivering walks for less mobile activities. 
 
Sincerest thanks Geoff for your commitment to delivering and for also keeping an eye on the Carey Bay Wetlands, keeping it litter-free. 
 
The regular contributions members make is what keeps the Progress Association ticking along.

Membership drive

If your neighbour comes knocking on your door, waving a piece of paper they might be asking you to join up to the Progress Association. Membership renewal time is happening and for only $6/person or $10/family you can be a part of an Association that works for the betterment or our community, maintains and owns our Hall and ensures issues that affect our community are made known to the community.

Membership doesn’t mean you have to come along to meetings…unless you want to of course, it does mean that you are supporting the organisation and the voice of the community which it represents. If you would like to join up, contact the Association through your favourite communication method and we’ll get a membership form to you.

One satisfied member penned the following note with their membership renewal:

“You’re doing a wonderful job. Wish I were 39 instead of 89 so I could take part instead of having to hire a gardener to keep my rather large patch tidy. 

Yours sincerely grateful for your efforts on my behalf to keep this as a wonderful area in which to live”
