Woop Woop Wooppee!

Local wildlife carer Catherine Wroe has had a big Wonga pigeon visiting her place recently – “I have seen one before but that was at least a couple of years ago, so it's nice to know that they are around”
Have you heard a loud monotonous 'woop woop' call, which can be heard up to 2 km away and can be given for hours on end?

The description of the Wonga Wonga from the Birds in Backyards website says its a large, plump, ground-dwelling pigeon with a small head, short, broad wings and a long tail. It is mainly grey above, with a pale face, a distinctive white V on the breast and white lower parts which are boldly marked with black-brown crescents and wedges
