The Grants Administrator-Bush Regeneration had this to say
about the project…
“This project maintains its status as an example of
excellence in the Community Bush Regeneration program. The Trust commends the
group for jointly receiving he Community group of the year award. The project
manager and steering committee have continually demonstrated adaptive
management to overcome obstacles as they arise and find suitable alternative
methods. An example of this is the redirection of landholder engagement efforts
to installation of glider habitat boxes after the Neighbourhood Node failed to
attract the number of residents hoped for.
Using fauna presence as a driver for engagement with those
that otherwise can be reticent is a wise move. Visual cues such as artificial
habitat installations or camera trap photos showing fauna in-situ can often be
the difference with “breaking though” before being able to explain the need for
healthy habitat to retain their presence.
The impressive outcomes that have already been achieved
through this project are a result of the project manager and committee’s hard
work in combination with a dedicated group of volunteers and effective
contractors. Keep up the great work!
